How to find everything - Educational Index
Some of our content goes on our site, and some on The Wilderness Classroom. However, every time we put something up on The Wilderness Classroom, we also put a short post on our site, with a link to the appropriate place on The Wilderness Classroom.We’ve created two indexes that we keep up to date that are found below. One index is by country and the other is by biome. The index includes all the content on both of our blogs (kids and parents) as well as anything we post on The Wilderness Classroom. We’ve tried to make this an easy way to see an organized quick summary of everything we’ve done.
Automatic notification of new content
You’re welcome to come check our site weekly or more frequently if you’d like. But if you’d like an automatic notification on any day that we add content, then sign up for Email updates.There’s a sign-up box on the right side of every blog page. After you sign up, there is one added step that sometimes causes problems. After submitting your email address, you will get an almost immediate email verification from Feedburner. This email often gets caught in junk mail filters. You have to find this email, and click on the link provided within it. So, if you don't see it in your email inbox immediately after signing up, check your junk mail.
Notes from the trail
Short articles (generally 750-850 words) about what we’ve been recently doing. They incorporate some pictures we’ve taken and sometimes videos. We almost always include 4-5 study guide questions at the end that can be used after reading the articles. You can have your kids read these articles, or read it to them. We try to put one of these up every week.Mystery Photos and Mystery Sounds
A mystery photo is a photo, or portion of a photo, that we’ve taken with 3 clues. After guessing what the photo is, we typically provide some additional interesting information about the subject of the photo.A mystery sound is a recording of an interesting sound we’ve heard, again with 3 clues. We present this in a youtube video. After guessing the sound, we typically provide additional information about what made the sound.
Summary videos
We’re doing a summary video roughly every month. They can be found on the “Videos” page of our blog. They will typically be from 3-5 minutes long. This is a great way for kids to see the highlights of what we’ve been doing.Kids blog posts

If your kids have questions for us, after reviewing any of our material, we love to get questions! With some notice, we’re happy to arrange a 1:1 videoconference with your classroom. We’ve found these are great ways to interact with kids and to get them more interested in what we’re doing. Because we’re traveling in places in different time zones and sometimes with spotty Internet access, it may take us a week or two to arrange a good time. We upload our best photos to these photo albums. So far, we've mostly organized them by country. If you mouse over the photos, you'll see comments we've added describing the photo. If you click on a photo, you'll see a full size version of it.Note, that these photo albums work differently than the email updates, so there is no notification that goes out when new photos are added. Posts not for kids
Most, but not all, of our posts are targeted towards children. We’ve written some articles for other publications, and we do include them on our blog.
